|Society Donation to Cambodian Orphanage 24 September 2016 at 11:04|
As you may know, two of our referees regularly travel to South East Asia to referee there. Whilst there they have "adopted" an orphanage in Phnom Penh.
On behalf of NLDRFURS Alan Hawkes handed over a donation made by the society to the Orphanage manager.
As with all such organisations they face immense problems and the donation goes a little way towards making the lives of many children much better.
Currently they have fifty children with more arriving in October
The good news is they now have a mainstream water supply to the rear of the farm after fourteen years and have cobbled together old piping to get it to the kitchen. Not ideal but it's working.
The bad news is they have had to sell 20 cows a major source of food and have only three left and are $800 owing to the pipe supplier and need another roll of pipe to finish the job properly.
It seems there is a price to pay even for the basics in life.
In six weeks time further donations will come in from Australia and Kent referees, and our referees will also try to get Kangaroo court fines from The Cambodia Tens directed towards this great cause.
